Beverley Barnes Obituary: Penn Yan bids farewell to a cherished member of its community, Beverley A. Barnes, who peacefully departed this world on March 12, 2024, at the age of 86, surrounded by her adoring family. Beverley’s journey began in Geneva, N.Y., on July 11, 1937, as the beloved daughter of Eugene B. and Helen Hefferon.

A graduate of De Sales High School, Beverley’s life was marked by love, service, and devotion. She found her soulmate in George M. Barnes, whom she married on September 26, 1959, at St. Stephen’s Church in Geneva. While Beverley held various jobs, her greatest joy came from nurturing and caring for children, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

A faithful communicant of St. Stephen’s Church and later St. Michael’s Church, Beverley’s commitment to her faith extended to her involvement in the Catholic Daughters, where she joined in 1963 at St. Stephen’s Parish.

Beverley leaves behind a legacy of love and family, cherished by her devoted husband of 64 years, George M. Barnes, and their children: Mary (Tom Blind), Marty Barnes, Amy (Neal Braman), Patty (Billy Maher), Joan (Mark Perry), Paul (Jodie) Barnes, Sharon (Doug Reagan), Lolly (Glenn Green), Matthew Barnes, and Megan (Clint Condron). Her presence will also be deeply missed by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.

In addition to her immediate family, Beverley is survived by her siblings Michael Hefferon, Mary Cherniske, Patrick Hefferon (Laura), and sister-in-law Teal Hefferon. She was preceded in death by her brother Bud Hefferon, sister-in-law Carol Hefferon, brother-in-law Joe Cherniske, sister-in-law Erin Hefferon, and additional in-laws Joanne and Al Madsen, Jim and Kathryn May, and Alice Nichols. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law Tim Kuver and great-grandson Weston Runions.

Beverley’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. As we mourn her passing, let us celebrate her life and the countless lives she touched with her boundless love and generosity.
