Clyde Adams Obituary: Clyde Edward “Eddie” Adams, affectionately known to many as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on March 13, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 80 years old.

Eddie’s journey began on October 21, 1943, in New Albany, Indiana, born to Clyde and Margaret (Roberts) Adams. He was a proud graduate of North Central High School in Ramsey, IN, and later answered the call to serve his country as a Veteran of the United States Army Reserve. His commitment to service extended into his professional life, where he dedicated an admirable 26 years as a State Police Officer for the State of Indiana, retiring with the rank of 1st Sergeant. Even in retirement, Eddie continued to serve, lending his expertise to the legal field at both the Crawford and Floyd County Prosecutors offices.

On April 26, 1969, Eddie embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship with his beloved wife, Marla (Otto) Adams, in New Salisbury, IN. Together, they shared a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion. Eddie’s commitment to community was evident in his roles as the Director of the Bambino Baseball League at Morgan Elementary and as a dedicated coach for junior varsity baseball at North Harrison. His passion for sports extended to his unwavering support for IU Sports, the Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Indians, and the sport of baseball itself.

Despite his many accomplishments, Eddie’s greatest source of joy came from spending cherished moments with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart. His legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Margaret, and his sister, Rita Hughes. He is survived by his loving wife, Marla Adams; his daughter, Kristin (Eric) Weitzel; his son, Scott (Andrea) Adams; his sister, Rhonda (Dave) Harmon; his grandchildren, Tyler (Kaysie) Schenck, Bailey (Jeffery) Vasquez, Dane Adams, Faith (Ethan Rhoden) Weitzel, and Brady Weitzel; his great-grandchildren, Jay Vasquez and Selena Vasquez; and his faithful pet companion, “Tigger.”

Visitation to honor Eddie’s life will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 2 pm to 8 pm, and again on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey, IN. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 12 pm, followed by burial at St. Bernard Cemetery in Depauw.
