Roy Black Obituary: A Man of Love, Laughter, and Legacy

Roy Black Obituary: On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the world lost a shining beacon of love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty with the passing of Roy Daniel Black, aged 77. Roy, beloved husband of Carol Black, bid farewell to this earthly realm to reunite with his Lord. Born in Greenville, SC, he was the cherished son of the late Roy and Helen Barbare Black.

Roy was affectionately known as “Cadillac Black” for his legendary prowess in the world of auto sales. With unmatched skills and charisma, he made a lasting impact in the industry, working for several prominent dealerships in the upstate area. However, his influence extended far beyond the showroom floor. Roy was a devoted member of Truth Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served for 23 years, sharing his passion for music by playing bass guitar during worship services.

A devoted family man, Roy found immeasurable joy in the love and companionship of his wife, Carol, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of almost six decades. Their enduring bond was a testament to the power of love and commitment. Roy took immense pride in the accomplishments and milestones of his children and grandchildren, finding solace and fulfillment in their happiness and success. His beloved pet, Rocky, was also a cherished member of the family, bringing him endless joy and companionship.

Roy’s magnetic personality and quick wit endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a knack for bringing smiles to people’s faces and brightening the darkest of days with his infectious laughter and playful jokes. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit of love, laughter, and loyalty will forever linger in the hearts and memories of those who were fortunate enough to call him friend or family.

In addition to his devoted wife, Carol, Roy is survived by his loving daughters, Danette (Jerry) Brown and Britt (Sammy) Kay, his son, Daniel (Angi) Black Jr., his adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his dear sister, Dee Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Louise Turner, Pauline Noe, Linda Jordan, and Charles Black.

A visitation to honor Roy’s life will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. at Truth Missionary Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Truth Missionary Baptist Church.
