Virginia Bailey Obituary: Virginia Lee Bailey, a pillar of strength, love, and service, peacefully departed from this earthly realm on March 11, 2024, at the age of 83, surrounded by her beloved family at Grace Pointe in Kersey. Born on December 8, 1940, in Greeley, Colorado, to John and Helen Croissant, Virginia’s life was a testament to dedication, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Raised on the family farm south of Kersey, Virginia’s roots ran deep in the community she cherished. She graduated from Kersey High School in 1958 before embarking on a journey of love and companionship with her beloved husband, Walter Douglas Bailey, whom she married on December 15, 1959, at the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Greeley.
Virginia dedicated 32 years of her life to the Platte Valley School District, serving as the Secretary to the Administration and Food Service Director. Even after retiring, her commitment to education remained steadfast as she continued to serve as a substitute until the age of 80. Her impact extended beyond the local community, as she also served as the Secretary to the State Food Service program, representing Colorado at conferences across the United States.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Virginia generously volunteered her time and talents to various organizations, including the Weld Library District Board and the Bailey Lateral Ditch Board, where she served as secretary for 32 years. Her passion for service extended to judging FBLA competitions and active involvement at Kersey Community Church.
Virginia’s vibrant spirit and zest for life were evident in her hobbies, from her adventures in Blackhawk to her unwavering support for the Denver Nuggets, Broncos, and Colorado Rockies. Her love for sports extended to 30 years as season ticket holders for CU football games. However, her greatest joy came from spending cherished moments with her family, attending events and sports for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Virginia’s legacy of love and devotion will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Walt, her three daughters: Tammy (Rodney) Reinick, Pam (Scott) Greenly, and Debbie (Jared) Jakino, her eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Patricia Stephenson, John (Debbie) Croissant, brother-in-law Dave Clarkson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dorothy Clarkson, and sons-in-law Ken Wilkinson and Fred Fangmeier. In celebration of her remarkable life, an Open House will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Kersey Community Church Memorial Building. Memorial gifts may be made to “Kersey Community Church” or “Pathways Hospice.”
Virginia’s legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
