Barbara Haynes obtuary : Barbara Kay (Smith) Haynes, a beacon of love, joy, and adventure, departed from this world on Friday, March 15, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of her family’s embrace. Born and raised in George County, Barbara’s life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and cherished memories.
Barbara’s heart found its home in Gautier in 1984 when she married her soulmate, John Leslie (Les) Haynes. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Barbara took great pride in her role as a devoted wife and mother, finding her greatest joy in the love and laughter shared with her husband and their two sons, Chris (Laura) Smith and John Roger (Jamie) Haynes. Her heart overflowed with love for her grandchildren, Donald Smith and Ana Kate Haynes, who brought endless warmth and joy into her life.
A woman of boundless energy and enthusiasm, Barbara embraced life’s adventures with open arms. Whether traveling, boating, camping, snorkeling, or fishing, she found joy in every moment spent with family and friends. Her love for the ocean was legendary, earning her the affectionate nickname, Jumping Jack Flash, and inspiring playful teasing about her past life as a dolphin.
Barbara’s vibrant spirit and zest for life were contagious. She radiated joy and excitement, infusing every gathering with her infectious laughter and playful energy. Her love of music and dance was evident to all who knew her, as she danced through life with grace and exuberance.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, cherished by her devoted husband and caregiver, Les Haynes, her children, grandchildren, and siblings, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. While she may have departed from this world, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A visitation to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services Chapel in Ocean Springs, MS, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a service on Wednesday, March 20th, starting at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Barbara will be laid to rest at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, Mississippi, surrounded by the love and prayers of those who cherished her.
