Clyde David Hoops Obituary: Clyde David Hoops Sr., a respected member of the Goshen Township community in Salem, Ohio, peacefully passed away at his home on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the age of 90.

Born on March 8, 1934, in Doniphan, Nebraska, Clyde was the beloved son of the late Ira and Grace (Perky) Hoops. He spent many years dedicating himself to his work, retiring in 1983 as a supervisor at GM Lordstown Assembly Plant. Clyde was also a devout member of the Greenford Lutheran Church, where his faith was a guiding force in his life.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children: Debbie Jorgenson and Cheri (Michael) Brill of Wisconsin, Mariann (Phil) Menter, Sue (Eugene) Mead, Patti (Michael) Scheetz, C David Hoops Jr., Michael (Diane) Hoops, and Mark Hoops, all of Ohio. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Flick and Marilyn Newcomb, both of Wisconsin, along with 24 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Clyde was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean (King) Hoops, his brothers Philip and Kenneth Hoops, as well as 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.

Services to honor Clyde’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 1 PM at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem. His granddaughter, Pastor Emily Ebert, will officiate the service. Following the ceremony, Clyde will be laid to rest at Bunker Hill Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 6-8 PM, and on Tuesday from 12-1 PM at the funeral home.

In remembrance of Clyde’s life and his passion for the Green Bay Packers, attendees are encouraged to wear Packers attire or colors.

Clyde David Hoops Sr. will be remembered fondly for his dedication to his family, his work ethic, and his unwavering faith. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
