Edna Balser Obituary :Edna L. Balser, age 72, of Granville, departed from this world on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Inn at Summit Trail in Reynoldsburg. Born on November 11, 1951, in Granville, Ohio, Edna was the cherished daughter of the late Carl and Olga (Fry) Balser.
A proud 1970 graduate of Granville High School, Edna’s life was illuminated by her passion for the theater. She graced the stage with her talent as a performer with the Granville Players and Weathervane Playhouse, where she also served as Board President. Edna’s love for music extended beyond the stage, as she had a beautiful voice and found joy in singing.
Edna found fulfillment in her travels, exploring both the United States and abroad, and relished the thrill of gambling whenever the opportunity arose. Her compassionate spirit shone brightly through her volunteer work at the Granville Historical Society and her involvement in the restoration of the Old Colony Burial Ground. Edna’s generosity knew no bounds, as she donated her hair to Locks of Love on multiple occasions, embodying the essence of selflessness and kindness.
An avid animal lover, Edna’s heart was open to all creatures great and small, often welcoming strays into her home with open arms. Her infectious sense of humor and gregarious personality endeared her to all who knew her, making her a beloved presence in any social setting.
Edna is survived by her brothers, Lynn (Linda) Balser of Georgia, Earl (Carol) Balser of Granville, Lee Balser of Newark, and John (Sally) Balser of Newark, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In honor of Edna’s memory, contributions may be made to the Licking County Humane Society at 825 Thornwood Drive, Heath, Ohio 43056.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024, at McPeek Hoekstra Hoskinson Funeral Home, located at 133 S. Prospect Street, Granville.
A graveside service will take place at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.
