Elaine Wallis Obituary: Elaine R. Wallis, a beloved resident of Michigan City, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the age of 87.

Born on November 28, 1936, in Michigan City, Elaine was the daughter of George and Marian (Koziatek) Batzel. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Jack Wallis, in Michigan City.

Throughout her life, Elaine made significant contributions both professionally and personally. She worked as a switchboard operator at Blocksom for several years and later retired from Dwyer Instrument. However, Elaine’s true passion lay in her culinary talents. She was renowned for her exceptional cooking skills and ran her own catering business, delighting countless individuals with her delicious creations at weddings, parties, and various church events. Elaine’s love for cooking was evident in every dish she prepared, bringing joy to all who tasted her food.

Above all, Elaine cherished her family dearly. She was a devoted mother to her children, Buck (Lori) Wallis and Peggy (Kutch) Wallis. Elaine’s sister, Virginia Yandek of Florida, also survives her. Elaine took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren, Jack (Brandy) Wallis, James (Jennifer) Kutch, Sarah Wallis, and Marlin (Jessica Anderson) Kalk, as well as her eleven great-grandchildren: Lillian, Jack, Travis, Mason, Nikolas, Leiandra, Liam, Adalynn, Alayna, and Miles Jr.

Elaine’s memory will be forever cherished by her family and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her two daughters, Amy and Susan.
