Helen Siegel Obituary :Helen Anne (Chivian) Siegel, age 90, of Newburgh, IN, departed this life on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Primrose Retirement Community. Born on August 1, 1933, in Evansville, IN, to Louis and Adele Chivian, Helen Anne lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

At the age of 16, Helen Anne met the love of her life, Milton Siegel, and they were married when she was 19. Their union was a testament to enduring love, and they shared 34 wonderful years together until Milt’s passing in 1986. Helen Anne also treasured the companionship of Bob Levi, with whom she shared 21 years and many precious moments with their shared grandchildren.

Growing up in the vibrant atmosphere of Chivian’s department store in Newburgh, Helen Anne had a natural affinity for retail. She worked in various retail stores throughout her life, including Siegel’s and Mr. Fashion, where she delighted in assisting customers and managing the business’s bookkeeping with her sharp accounting skills.

Helen Anne was deeply involved in her Synagogue, Temple Adath Israel, where she served as President of Sisterhood and managed the catering kitchen for numerous B’nai Mitzvahs and life cycle events. Her home was always filled with warmth and joy during holiday gatherings, where family and friends came together to celebrate.

An active member of her community, Helen Anne enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, and Mah Jong, cultivating a wide circle of friends with whom she shared many memorable moments. She was a dedicated supporter of the Evansville Philharmonic and volunteered her time for the organization. In 2019, Helen Anne embraced a new chapter of her life at Primrose Retirement Community, where she continued to nurture old friendships and build new ones while maintaining an active social life.

Helen Anne is survived by her daughters, Lisa Siegel Slutsky (Rick) of Sarasota, FL, and Jan Luebbe of Evansville, IN; her cherished grandchildren, Rachel and Madeline; and dear cousins, Kay and Gary Weiss.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Adele Chivian; her beloved husband, Milton Siegel; and her companion, Bob Levi.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, with Rabbi Gary Mazo officiating..
