John Kaindl Obituary: Fenwick High School alumnus died at 92

John Kaindl Obituary: John Edward Kaindl, a beacon of love and service, peacefully departed this world on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Landings in Batavia, surrounded by the embrace of his devoted family. He was 92 years old.

Born on February 3, 1932, in Chicago, John was the beloved son of Arthur and Marguerite Kaindl. His journey through life was marked by a profound commitment to service, a dedication to his family, and a passion for community engagement.

After graduating from Fenwick High School in 1949, John embarked on a path of education and service. He attended the University of Illinois for two years before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he pursued his passion for engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he honed his skills and embarked on a remarkable 43-year career as a civil engineer.

Even in his “retirement,” John’s commitment to service never waned. Together with his beloved wife, Flora, he operated Cardinal Embroidery for a decade, leaving an imprint of hard work and dedication in the business world.

John’s impact extended far beyond his professional endeavors. He was deeply involved in the communities he called home, serving as a Village Board Trustee in Hazel Crest for 18 years and as a member of the Board of Directors at South Suburban Hospital for 12 years. His commitment to music was evident through his membership in the West Towns Chorus and his participation in a barbershop quartet for 14 years.

He was also an active member of several parish communities, including St. Anne Parish in Hazel Crest, St. Julien Parish in Elk Grove Village, and St. Peter Parish in Geneva. Additionally, John contributed his expertise and leadership as a member and officer of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers.

John leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire generations to come. He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Flora, his six children, and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the joy of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Arthur, and sister Sr. Jean Margaret.

Visitation to honor John’s life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a liturgical wake service at 7:45 pm, at the Malone Funeral Home in Geneva. Funeral prayers will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 9:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva, presided over by Father John McFadden. Burial will be held privately.
