Joseph Lerch obtuary: With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph M. Lerch, 69, of Middletown, on Friday, March 15, 2024, at The Middletown Home. Born in Harrisburg on April 9, 1954, Joseph, known affectionately as Joe, was the son of the late Marlin J. Lerch, Sr., and Betty J. Henry Lerch.
Joe’s journey was marked by his dedication to hard work and his unwavering love for his family and community. He held various positions at warehouses in the area and was a proud graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, Class of 1973.
An avid Eagles fan, Joe’s passion for sports extended beyond the field. He enjoyed spending time bowling and had a soft spot for feline friends, earning him the title of a devoted cat lover.
Joe’s memory lives on in the hearts of his five siblings: Barbara A. Seibert (Scott) of Middletown, Marlin J. “Pork” Lerch, Jr. of Palmyra, Douglas W. Lerch (Connie) of Chambers Hill, and Patricia D. Olinger (Roger) of Hummelstown. He is also survived by three sons, two daughters, and several grandchildren, who will carry his legacy forward with love and pride.
A memorial service to honor Joe’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., located at 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Chaplain Douglas E. Dorula of Residential Hospice will officiate the service, followed by inurnment at the Hummelstown Cemetery.
Friends and loved ones are invited to gather with the family on Tuesday, starting at 12:00 noon until the time of the service, to share memories, support one another, and pay tribute to a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. In the quiet moments of reflection and remembrance, may we find comfort in the enduring legacy of Joseph M. Lerch, whose kindness, warmth, and spirit will continue to illuminate our lives.
