Robert Kirby obituary: Robert Leo Kirby, known affectionately as Bob, passed away on March 15, 2024, at the Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio, at the age of 95. Born on February 3, 1929, in Coshocton, Ohio, Bob was the son of Russel and Waverline Kirby. Throughout his life, Bob was regarded as a truly unique individual, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A dedicated entrepreneur, Bob was the proud owner of Kirby Electric for most of his adult life. He approached his work with meticulous care and dedication, earning the admiration and respect of his customers who often became his friends. Bob’s commitment to excellence was evident in everything he did.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob had a passion for exercise and physical fitness. Whether he was on his Gazelle trainer or challenging someone to do a prone press, Bob found joy in staying active. He generously shared his knowledge and love for judo by teaching classes at the YMCA, OUZ, and Muskingum College for many years. Additionally, Bob was deeply spiritual and shared his faith with others by giving them copies of ‘Jesus Calling’, a testament to his kind and generous nature.
Despite his advanced age, Bob maintained a remarkably healthy lifestyle. He attributed his longevity to the supplements he diligently took and avoided pharmaceuticals until his final year of life.
Bob was a loving father to his three children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Christopher Kirby, his daughter Susie Harpell, and his longtime companion Mirem Rose Buzza. He is survived by his sister Patty Luallen and his daughter Cathy McKinley.
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, no calling hours or service will be held at this time. A dignified cremation will take place through DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, and Bob will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bob’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of hard work, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire generations to come. May he rest in peace.
