In 1958, Roger united in marriage with the love of his life, JoAnn Jacobs, in Freeport, IL. Their union blossomed over the years, brimming with shared adventures, enduring love, and mutual respect. The loss of JoAnn in 2018 left a profound void in Roger’s heart, but their bond remains eternally cherished.
Roger’s devotion extended beyond his family, as he honorably served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. Following his military service, Roger dedicated three decades of his life as a machinist at Camcar in Rockford, leaving an indelible mark through his skillful craftsmanship and steadfast work ethic.
Roger and JoAnn were stalwart members of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church and former attendees of Zion Church. Their commitment to faith was matched by their involvement in the Lions Club of Pecatonica, where their contributions spanned over 35 years, holding various leadership roles and embodying the club’s spirit of service.
In the tapestry of his life, Roger found joy in the simple pleasures – spending cherished moments with his family, embarking on adventures with JoAnn, and relishing winters in Texas. His laughter and warmth brought light to those around him, leaving an enduring legacy of love and kindness.
Roger is survived by his daughters, Tamara Burnett and Wendy Gregory, his brother Jerry Freese, sister-in-law Dolores Freese, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, brother Marvin Freese, brother-in-law Clifford Jacobs, and son-in-law Gary Burnett.
