Virginia Massouh obituary: Virginia “Ginny” Jacox Massouh, a woman of immense warmth, love, and grace, departed from this world on March 7, 2024, after bravely battling Alzheimer’s disease for nine years. Born on February 11, 1943, in Rochester, NY, Ginny’s journey was one of profound love, service, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Ginny’s path in life was marked by her deep connections and meaningful relationships. She met her beloved husband, Michael Massouh, at Hiram College in Ohio, where they embarked on a lifelong journey together. Their union was blessed with love and partnership, as they ventured from Ohio to Cleveland, and later to New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and finally to Florida.
Throughout her life, Ginny touched the hearts of all who knew her. From her early days working in admissions at Case Western Reserve University to her time as a children’s librarian in Cleveland, Ginny’s passion for education and literature shone brightly. Her love for books extended beyond her professional life, as she meticulously cataloged her favorite children’s books, leaving a legacy of literacy and joy for generations to come.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Ginny was a devoted mother and wife. She embraced the joys and challenges of motherhood with grace and tenderness, creating a warm and loving home wherever her family roamed. Her dedication to her children was unwavering, and she found boundless joy in their laughter and milestones.
Ginny’s vibrant spirit was reflected in her many passions and hobbies. From singing to cooking, knitting to birdwatching, Ginny’s zest for life was infectious. She found solace in nature, whether walking in the Adirondacks or cheering for the Red Sox. Her warmth and love extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of all who crossed her path.
In her final years, Ginny found comfort and care at Seasons Belleair Memory Care in Belleair, Florida. She was surrounded by love and compassion, with special gratitude to her caretaker, Cathy Talbot, who provided unwavering support and advocacy.
Ginny’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, including her children Benjamin, Andrew, Theodora, and Luke, her grandchildren Zachary, Solomon, Asa, and Vivian, her sister Christine, her sister-in-law Susan, her nephew David, and a host of extended family and friends. Though she may have left this world, her spirit remains alive in the memories and love she shared with all who knew her.
Two services will be held to honor Ginny’s life and legacy. The first will take place at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Pinellas Park, Florida, on March 13th, followed by a wake and funeral at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Canton, Ohio, on March 22nd and March 23rd respectively.
