Hermina Nobrega Obituary: Hermina Veronica Nobrega, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver, passed away on Friday, March 15th 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength. She is survived by her husband, Herman Nobrega, her four children her two grandchildren her siblings, and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Hermina immigrated to the U.S. from Guyana in 1970, seeking a better life for her family. Despite facing numerous challenges, she pursued a career in nursing and worked tirelessly as a nursing assistant for over 30 years.
Her passion for caring for others extended beyond her professional life, as she also ran an at-home childcare business during the day, showing kindness and compassion to countless children in her care.
Despite battling Alzheimer’s in her later years, Hermina maintained her fiery spirit and unwavering strength. She was a beacon of love and guidance, instilling kindness, compassion, and resilience in those around her. She remained a source of inspiration, always encouraging her loved ones to “reach for the stars.”
Hermina’s generosity knew no bounds, even in the face of her own challenges. She touched the lives of thousands, both in person and through her memorable act of ironing her granddaughter’s pride flag for D.C. Pride. Her unconditional love and kindness made her a cherished figure in the lives of all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Hermina’s memorial fund to cover funeral and burial expenses, as well as the costly treatment and care for her Alzheimer’s. Any excess funds will be used to support her husband, Herman Nobrega, during this difficult time.
Hermina Veronica Nobrega will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. Her legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to shine brightly, inspiring all who knew her to live with love and kindness in their hearts.
