Masino Gelong & Claeryina Mecthild death: The community of Keningau in Sabah’s interior is reeling from a tragic accident that claimed the lives of a man and his 3-year-old daughter early Sunday morning.
Masino Gelong, 45, was driving his family when their car collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle on the Keningau-Apin-Apin road.
Tragically, Masino and his daughter Claeryina Mecthildis lost their lives in the accident. Masino’s wife, Chelrina Philip, and their four other children, Mattheo Charbel, Mica Chelsino, Charlene Myra, and Camellia Mae, sustained serious injuries and are currently in critical condition at the Keningau district hospital.
The accident also resulted in injuries to three other individuals, including the driver of the 4WD, who are receiving treatment at the hospital.
Keningau OCPD Supt Yampil Anak Garai explained that the collision occurred when one of the drivers lost control of their vehicle, causing it to stray into the opposite lane. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
In response to the accident, emergency responders, including firefighters, rushed to the scene to rescue those trapped in the mangled wreckage.
