Michael Sims Obituary: Paris, pharmacist passed away at 76

Michael Sims Obituary: Michael Lee Sims, aged 76, passed away on March 22, 2024. Graveside services to honor his memory will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Mike Sims was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who transitioned to be in the presence of Jesus on March 22, 2024, in Powderly.

He was born to Vernon Lee and Christene Sims in Clarksville, later moving to Paris where he made his home. Some of his cherished memories from childhood include riding around in Papa Ollie’s truck and assisting on the family farm.

Mike attended Paris schools and graduated from Paris High School in 1965. During his teenage years, he worked for his father at Main Tire, instilling in him a strong work ethic.

He continued his education at Paris Junior College and graduated from the University of Houston as a pharmacist in 1971. Mike served as a pharmacist for over 45 years in various pharmacies in town before retiring in 2015.

Known for his dedication to customer care, he was the pharmacist who went above and beyond for his clients.

In 1969, Mike married Annie Lois Tucker, with whom he shared a life for 45 years and had two children, Matthew Lee and Annie Laurie. After Annie Lois’s passing, Mike married Jocasta (Harbuck) on February 6, 2016, gaining two additional daughters, Alecia Harbuck-Brandon and Angela Temple.

His commitment to service extended beyond his local community, as he traveled to Honduras three times with BMDMI to provide medications to those in need. Mike was also involved in youth camps, church committees, pantry work, and served as an Aspire worker.

He was a dedicated Boy Scout leader and earned his Eagle Scout title in 1962.

Following retirement, Mike and Jocasta enjoyed traveling, particularly to national parks, on cruises, and participating in mission trips.
