The Long Beach Police Department confirmed that the collision occurred at 55th Way and Paramount Boulevard around 6:58 p.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the child lying on the roadway, and despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries.
Reports indicate that the child, whose identity remains undisclosed due to her tender age, was struck by a Ford F-150 truck driven by a 25-year-old Downey man.
The collision happened as she was crossing the road, outside of a marked crosswalk. It’s a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life can be, especially for our little ones.
Amidst the grief, there is solace in knowing that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
