8-year-old girl found dead in pool pipe at Houston hotel

In a devastating incident that has left the community reeling, an eight-year-old girl tragically drowned at a hotel in Northwest Houston.

The child was reported missing on Saturday evening, prompting a massive search effort involving Houston Police, Houston Fire, and EquuSearch.

The search ultimately led to the heartbreaking discovery that the girl had been pulled into an underwater pipe.

Tim Miller, founder of Texas EquuSearch, described it as one of the saddest cases they’ve encountered. Initial confusion surrounded the disappearance, with questions arising about whether the girl had wandered off or been taken.

Security footage revealed that the girl had gone underwater in the hotel pool but did not resurface.

EquuSearch utilized specialized cameras to inspect the pipes after draining the pool, where they found her trapped.

According to Miller, a malfunction caused the child to be pulled into the opening, which was meant for water outflow, not intake.

The discovery deeply affected the search team, with many overcome by grief.
