Ben Leonard Death: The heartbroken mother of 16-year-old Ben Leonard, who tragically fell to his death while on a Scouts trip, is demanding action from the government to ensure the safety of children participating in such expeditions.
Ben, from Stockport, lost his life after suffering a serious head injury from a fall off the Great Orme in Llandudno during a Scouts excursion.
Despite the devastating loss, the family’s grief was compounded by revelations of neglect and failure on the part of the Scouts Association (TSA), contributing to Ben’s untimely demise.
A jury inquest concluded that Ben was “unlawfully killed” by the negligence of the Explorer Scouts leaders.

Ben’s family endured further anguish upon discovering that TSA’s initial response was to deflect blame onto local leaders, rather than taking responsibility for their failures.
Jackie Leonard, Ben’s mother, has been vocal in her demand for accountability and reform within the Scouts Association.
She insists that TSA must be regulated by an external body to ensure the safety of children participating in scouting activities.
Alongside other grieving families who have suffered similar losses, Jackie has initiated a petition urging the government to take action.
The devastating impact of Ben’s death has spurred Jackie and other families to advocate for change, determined to prevent future loss of life within the scouting community.
Their efforts serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of accountability and the need for comprehensive measures to protect the safety and well-being of young participants in outdoor activities.
