Darran Medd Obituary: The tragic loss of Darran Medd, a beloved van driver from Merthyr Tydfil, has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

Darran, described as a “loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend,” lost his life in a devastating accident on June 6 last year.

The incident occurred at Tredomen roundabout on the A472 in Hengoed, when Darran lost control of his white Ford Transit, resulting in a collision with a tree in the center of the roundabout island.

Despite the swift response of emergency services, including personnel from the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Air Ambulance, and Welsh Ambulance Service, Darran tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The official cause of death, as recorded by Newport Coroners’ Court, was attributed to multiple injuries sustained in the collision.

Senior coroner for Gwent, Caroline Saunders, formally concluded that the incident was a result of a road traffic collision, detailing the sequence of events leading to the tragic outcome.

In the wake of Darran’s untimely passing, his family expressed their profound grief, describing him as a “well-loved” individual who will be deeply missed.
