18-year-old Boy hit-and-run crash, Bartow High School Student died in Crash

18-year-old Boy hit-and-run crash: According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the suspect, involved in a minor crash at Bartow High School earlier that morning, fled the scene in a 2018 Hyundai sedan.

Subsequently, while driving north on Jackson Street at Pearl Street, the same driver struck the 18-year-old victim, who tragically succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver fled the scene for a second time following the incident.

Authorities later located the Hyundai at a residence in Polk County, as per FHP. It was discovered that the driver had left the scene in a blue 2017 Ford Fiesta with Florida tag 5613UJ.

Polk County Schools has announced that it is offering assistance to the school affected by the tragedy, with counselors being present at Bartow High School on Wednesday to provide support.
