Carlos Mendoza Obituary: 19-year-old boy lineman passed away

Carlos Mendoza Obituary: The community is mourning the tragic loss of 19-year-old Carlos Mendoza, a young lineman in training who passed away in an accident at Oroville’s Northwest Lineman College.

According to Oroville police, Mendoza was on a pole when it failed, resulting in a fatal fall. The school is cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.

A GoFundMe campaign was swiftly set up to assist with funeral expenses, reflecting the outpouring of support from the community.

Mendoza, who graduated from Victor Valley High School just last year, was described as having close family ties and a passion for baseball.

Anne-Marie Olivieri, founder of The LineLife Foundation and LineJunk, expressed her concern over the frequency of injuries and deaths among linemen.

She highlighted the dangers inherent in the profession, noting that accidents occur on average every five days, with a lineman losing their life approximately every week and a half.

Olivieri emphasized the need for greater awareness of the risks linemen face daily, including electrocution, drownings, and accidents involving cherry pickers.
