Shaylee Mejia Death: The 16-year-old girl, Shaylee Mejia, tragically lost her life more than a week after a violent fight at her high school in South Los Angeles.
The initial report from the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner described her death on March 15 as “accidental” and resulting from “Sequelae of blunt head trauma.
This indicates that Shaylee suffered blunt force trauma to her head, which ultimately led to her passing.
The incident occurred on March 5 at Manual Arts High School, where cellphone video captured Shaylee hitting her head against a bathroom stall and falling during the fight.
Despite complaining of a headache for several days afterward, Shaylee continued attending school.

However, later in the week, she fainted at a party and was subsequently rushed to a hospital by a friend. Unfortunately, Shaylee never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead six days later.
Shaylee’s mother, Maria Juarez, believes her daughter’s death was a result of the bathroom fight.
Juarez stated that Shaylee began coming home with bruises all over her body, presumably from fights, shortly after enrolling at the school.
