Michael Tucker Death: A somber atmosphere envelops the community as the bodies of a father and his young son were discovered in the Tennessee River on Wednesday, following what authorities believe to be a fishing accident.
In a news conference held Wednesday afternoon, Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems disclosed that deputies responded to Cypress Creek Road in Linden earlier that morning, approximately 85 miles west of Nashville, just south of Humphreys County.
Workers connecting a barge tow made a grim discovery when they found the body of a child in the water.
An unattended vehicle was also located nearby, raising suspicions that the tragic incident occurred while the pair was fishing.
“It’s a popular place to fish,” Sheriff Weems remarked. “We found clues that indicated they may have been fishing.”

Both bodies have been transferred to the Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation. The victims have been identified as Michael Ryan Tucker, 31, and his son, Michael Allen Tucker, aged 4.
Sheriff Weems noted that neither of them was wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.
Tragically, this incident adds to the list of “many drownings” witnessed in this particular area, highlighting the importance of water safety precautions.
