The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Deputy Christina Musil, a dedicated law enforcement officer who tragically lost her life in a crash in Waterman, Illinois.
Deputy Musil, a five-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was involved in a collision when her Ford Explorer squad SUV was struck from behind.
The incident occurred late on Thursday night, around 10:40 p.m., on Illinois Route 23 near Perry Road.
According to Illinois State Police, Deputy Musil was parked on the shoulder when a commercial truck veered off the road and collided with her squad car.
Despite efforts to save her, Deputy Musil succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a hospital.

She was not only a dedicated member of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office but also served in the Army National Guard as a military police officer, including a deployment to Afghanistan from 2008 to 2009.

Funeral arrangements for Deputy Musil are pending, and the Illinois State Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.
