SeanClayton Smith Crash: Sulphur, Lake Charles police officer died in crash

Sean Clayton Smith Crash: A tragic incident occurred early Friday morning in Sulphur, resulting in the loss of an officer from the Lake Charles Police Department in a single-vehicle accident.

The officer, identified as Sean Clayton Smith, aged 32 and a resident of Lake Charles, was off-duty at the time of the crash.

The accident took place around 6:30 a.m. while Smith was traveling west on Koonce Road. For reasons yet to be determined, his SUV veered off the road near Gill Drive, ultimately colliding with a tree.

Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by Kayla Vincent from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, which promptly responded to the incident.
