Arlene VonMyhr Obituary: Arlene VonMyhr, aged 55, died from the rare Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease in West Michigan on February 19, 2024.

Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD), also known as subacute spongiform encephalopathy or neurocognitive disorder due to prion disease, is a fatal degenerative brain disorder.

A report by West Michigan doctors had previously highlighted an “alarming” cluster of cases, although subsequent monitoring by public health officials has alleviated concerns about a widespread issue.

Gary VonMyhr provided the photo. Arlene VonMyhr’s life took an unexpected turn from normalcy.

Aged 55, Arlene VonMyhr and her husband, Gary, were reveling in the University of Michigan’s national championship victory on January 8.

However, that same night, she awoke experiencing symptoms resembling those of a stroke, only to be discharged without a diagnosis by medical professionals.
