Jamie Felix, a Port St. Lucie teacher killed in front of her children

Jamie Felix Murder-suicide: Authorities from the Port St. Lucie Police Department report that Jamie Felix, a 45-year-old teacher at Manatee K-8 Academy, was killed, in front of her two children, from the 9000 block of S. US-1 in Port St.

Lucie on Friday evening by her estranged husband, Ray Felix, aged 60.

According to detectives, colleagues of Jamie Felix received a concerning email from her on Friday evening but were unable to reach her, prompting them to contact law enforcement.

At some stage, the rental car returned to the vicinity of S US-1, where Ray Felix, 60, compelled one of the children to drive the rental car while he coerced Jamie Felix to drive her vehicle.

Both vehicles then proceeded together to the Quality Inn near Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach.

Mike Jachles, public information officer for the West Palm Beach Police Department, stated, “The victim, Jamie, got out of the car and that’s when the suspect got out of the car as well and shot her multiple times in the parking lot,” noting that the fatal shooting occurred in front of the two children.

Investigators reveal that Ray Felix subsequently left the two boys outside the motel and then drove the rental car to a nearby car rental facility while the children remained at the motel.

“(Ray Felix) dropped that car off and was off the property when officers found him at which time he pulled out a gun and fired a single shot to his head,” Jachles recounted.
