Adam Buckner Tucson Police Officer died in a vehicle crash

Adam Buckner Crash: Tucson Police Chief Chad Kasmar convened a press briefing on Monday, April 1, 2024, to offer details regarding a tragic accident involving a police officer.

Adam Buckner, 31, had the right of way before the collision Sunday night at an intersection not far from the University of Arizona campus. He died from his injuries after being rushed to a hospital.

Chief Kasmar revealed that the incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, at the intersection of North Campbell Avenue and East 6th Street.

According to authorities, Officer Adam Buckner was on duty, responding to a call for service following reports of an adult male vandalizing a nearby business.

Kasmar explained that Buckner was traveling north on Campbell Avenue with his lights and siren activated when another vehicle failed to yield the right of way.

Despite receiving immediate first aid at the scene, emergency crews from the Tucson Fire Department subsequently took over.

Tragically, 31-year-old Buckner succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Banner University Medical Center.

“Officer Buckner was not just a dedicated law enforcement professional; he was a son, a brother, a husband, and a cherished friend to many,” Kasmar reflected. “Our hearts ache for Officer Buckner’s wife, who has lost her confidant and life partner.”

Buckner had joined the Tucson Police Department in November 2021 as a lateral officer, transferring from the New Orleans Police, where he had served for four years. Notably, he had been recognized as the midtown division’s Officer of the Month in June.
