Kate Kaufling Obituary: Kate Kaufling, a sophomore on the University of Kentucky dance team, passed away on Sunday at the age of 20 after battling osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.
The announcement was made by UK Athletics on Monday.Originally from Assumption High School in Louisville, Kate joined the UK dance team last fall along with her twin sister, Abbey.
Described as a joy to coach and beloved by her teammates, Kate’s infectious smile lit up the room.
Dawn Walters, head coach of the UK dance team, expressed sadness over Kate’s passing and praised her bravery throughout her battle with cancer.
Kate’s courage and determination serve as an inspiration to all who knew her.
Funeral arrangements were pending at the time of the announcement. Kate is survived by her parents, Holly and Steve Kaufling, and her sister, Abbey.
Kate was not only a talented dancer but also excelled academically as a student in the College of Nursing.
