Brianna Soto: The parents of a 17-year-old girl are grappling with grief and seeking answers following her tragic death in a shooting incident while walking home from work in Long Beach last Tuesday night.
Ana Morales recounted the harrowing moments when her daughter, Brianna Soto, was walking home from her job at a nearby McDonald’s around 8 p.m.
Along the way, Brianna was on the phone with her mother until she abruptly ended the call, promising to call back later.
Shortly thereafter, Morales, along with her mother and two young children, heard the unsettling sound of gunshots echoing outside their home. Little did they know that those shots would forever alter their lives.
In a heart-wrenching moment of confusion and panic, Morales attempted to reach Brianna, only to have a young man answer the phone, speaking a language she couldn’t comprehend.
Frantically checking her daughter’s location, Morales was devastated to find that Brianna was lying on the ground outside, bleeding from a gunshot wound to her head.
Despite desperate efforts to save her, Brianna was pronounced brain dead at the hospital, succumbing to her injuries four days later.
As the family grapples with the devastating loss, they are left with unanswered questions and a deep yearning for justice. Brianna’s father, Pavel Soto, expressed the family’s sentiments, emphasizing that Brianna was a good girl and a beloved daughter who deserved better.
